Reflections
Some days I just feel like reflecting. Today is one of those days. As I look back at what I have been through this year I have learned a lot. I have never been a very religious person. Not that I in now way had disbelief in God - it has always been the people that I have meet in my journey that have made going to church an bad experience. But several of my friends that I have meet this year have changed my views. Am I still comfortable going to my church? No, not really, but I have learned that not all church going experiences are bad. In fact they can be very enjoyable- when in the right company. In fact one of my best friends has given me hope. She and I have had many discussion on Church and how it can be beneficial - she has never pushed for me to do something I am not ready for.

Very true. Church can be fun when in good company. I myself have had a few rotten experiences at church, especially when you are new and alone or in a small, small group. Last year the only time I went to church was when my best friend didnt have to work. Now she is 3 hours away but with her help I have gotten to know people and can go without her and feel okay. When you open up, you can benefit a lot, I go to the BCM regularly and it can do a 180 on you. I leave there with a new mind set every time.
ReplyDeleteOnce a guest speaker came to talk to our youth group at my Church. He was telling us how if a Church starts telling you how to dress or that you can't come to their Church dressed a certain way that you should probably find a better Church to go to because they're not looking into your best interests. Besides, if they're so worried about your appearance, then they probably aren't focused on why you even came in the first place. But as long as you find a Church you can go to and enjoy, that is all that matters! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mom always got upset with me when I was little cuz I didnt want to dress up for church. I always told her "God doesn't care what we wear, He just wants us there" Never worked, I still had to wear those stupid prissy dresses! :-P
ReplyDeleteI am probably the most agnostic person there is, but, i also am a believer that if you do good things, then good things will happen to you in the end. I like that idea of a way of life.
ReplyDeleteIt's important that you find your own church that really fits you. I definitely learned this coming into college. While it is fun to go to church with your closest friends and family, their church may not be the church for you. I know it is hard going to different churches on Sundays alone, but that is sometimes what you have to do. Test out different ones ad find the one that really fits you and that you feel comfortable in. Church is very important. I know that many people feel that they can be Christians without going to church I feel that they are really missing out. God wants us to go to church to fellowship with other believers. We get so much more out of our religion by doing so.
