Hey my name is Destiny McDaniel. This is my second year at EKU. I am working toward a major in Special Ed. with Learning and Behavior Disorders. I am from Brodhead Kentucky, It is a very small town about 30 min from here. I have a 14 year old brother, and me and mom take classes in Danville together on Tuesday nights (it kinda different going to school with my mom lol). I'm very excited to learn more about Special Ed., and am very excited to see how this class goes! :)

I think it's great you are taking classes with your mom. What a terrific support system you can be for one another. I am excited to see how this class goes, too. If it is anything like my previous semesters I do believe you are in for lots of learning and some fun along the way. I am excited about what I will learn from and with each of you throughout this semester. Students are always a teacher's best teacher!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying for the past 4 years to get my mom to go back to school. She says she thinks it would just be weird to go to school with her daughter but I think it would do her a lot of good. She has always been just a mom. She didn't really have a chance to go to school because she had me and then had to help my dad through school by babysitting. I hope one day that she'll see that it's a good idea for her to go back to school.
ReplyDeleteMy mom graduated last year with her masters in special education. During Spring 2004 we went to Richmond together. She was a preschool teacher assistant for twelve years and decided to go back to school. She has taught at Hogsett Elementary in Danville for almost five years. Tell your mom never to give up. Age doesn't matter when trying to go back to school. It takes a lot of dedication and passion for what you want, at any age.
