Nonverbals

"To understand people, we must be able to hear what they are NOT saying, what they will perhaps never be able to say."

The nonverbals have just as much meaning as the verbals. We have to be able to read people's actions and expressions, not only interpret their words.

  1. I think nonverbals play a large role in communication as well. I work in a school and there are lots of times that my students refuse to talk to me or tell me what is wrong with them. Most times the only way I know they are upset or about to explode is by their facial expressions and body language. By noticing these different expressions and knowing my students, I have been able to help them get back to a state of mind where they can begin to verbally communicate again.
