SED 260 Intro.

Hello! My name is Leslie Potts. I'am now a junior at EKU. I'am a dual LBD elementary ed. (P-5)/special ed (K-12) major, and I love it! I'am from a typical small town called Danville which is a good 45 minutes away from here, so you know I love making that drive everyday! I work at a day care in Danville called A Children's Place, I work with the school age children (7-10), and participate in the summer camp program we have there during the summer, which is lots of fun. I love all children and their free spirits. In High School I worked with the Special Education classroom during a peer tutoring program, it was a great experience and thats when I decided what I wanted to attain a degree in. I'am excited for this class to begin, and to learn more about Special Education.

  1. Hello Leslie, it's exciting to read of your love for children. Your work with kids will be a wonderful contribution to class discussions. I'm looking forward to it!! I understand "the drive." I live in Lexington and work in Frankfort. So, the past several semesters I have drive to Frankfort each morning, to Richmond to teach and then back to Lexington. Lots of good things we can do on that drive!

  2. Hey Leslie,
I read that you worked with the Special Education program at your High School, I was just wandering what exactly did you get to do? or what kind of kids did you work with?
During High School I kind of indirectly worked with the kids in our High School's Special Education program and it was absolutely amazing! It is one of the major reasons I am pursuing this degree! I think that's really cool that you got that experience as a High School student!

  3. Hey Leslie. I find it interesting that most people who want to teach special education discovered their dream when doing peer tutoring. I loved peer tutoring. It was a great opportunity for me. I am from Casey County. I worked in daycare all summer also.
