Hey Everyone!!
My name is Danele and I am 19 years old. I will be a senior next semester, though I will not graduate until the Fall of 2011. I am an Elementary/ LBD double major. This is my first time blogging and to be quite honest, I am not a fan of it. It just seems very awkward to me. I don't really know what to share. I am Hispanic, an only child (and its not all its cracked up to be), and I love children <3. Both of my parents are employed by the school systems so I have grown up in the schools and I can't see my life without children in it. They are my joy and my passion. I am very involved with the Baptist Campus Ministry and I currently hold the position of Service VP for Alpha Phi Omega (national co-ed service frat). I am rather excited about the new year and the challenges that are to come.

Hey Danele, I'm Renee and I completely understand. I have never blogged either and I don't really know what to say...but I guess I will just have to get over that...both my parents were teachers so I grew up with the school as a second home of sorts. I love kids too, it has been hard to come down here because I don't get to work with kids as much and it breaks my heart!
ReplyDeleteHow you choose to use the blog is your decision. Getting started is always the most difficult; I applaud you for diving in and posting!!
ReplyDeleteOne of the "good things" about doing something you don't like or that feels awkward is that it will help you to develop empathy with students you will serve or teach in the future. When you continually stretch yourself to participate in activities that are new, different, awkward and find a way to be successful you are discovering what it is you expect your future special ed students to do on a DAILY BASIS with reading, math, social studies, science, etc.
Many of them won't be a fan of reading or math or even coming to school. Yet you will expect them to do so. You may even expect them to do so with a good attitude and as good teachers you will have high expectations and expect them to excel.
Learning how to communicate in a new medium, a blog, is asking many of you to do something you are not comfortable doing. Yet, it also will provide you with a means of communicating and gaining valuable information and resources that can actually enhance your opportunity to succeed in this course.
I'm confused. The sig at the bottom said posted by Erin yet the message said my name is Danele. Personality conflict?
ReplyDeleteErin is my middle name, I use it for online purposes.
