Language Sample

Hello Mrs. White.
When I collected my language sample I had three children working on a project together; luckily for me, all three were very vocal. :)
When I'm typing up my 100 utterances is it okay if I only use the three children communicating with one another or do I have to include my comments to the children as well. I would like to bring in the audio and let you listen to a few parts of the tape- one of the little girls on the tape is a trip. LOL

  1. Jeannie, I'd love to hear those parts of the tape!

Yes, you must transcribe the entire conversation including all persons participating. You count 100 utterances of the ONE CHILD on whom you will focus. This is the ONLY language you will analyze - the one child of focus.
