Length is not the issue. The ACCURACY and or QUALITY of the content is the issue. Feel free to ask specific questions about specific parts as to necesssary content.
The language sample is supposed to be a collection of the child's natural language. A question/answer session does not demonstrate a child's natural language. The child's language is totally directed/controlled by the adult's questions.
You don't have to be in the conversation. It could be two children playing together or a conversation between a child and their parent. The key is, is it a natural occurrence of the child's language.
